  • Image Watermark

Protect your photos and videos with watermarks using php

It is possible to watermark photos and files embedded in your content without modifying the originals. One scenario is displaying photos from your server or photo server with different watermarks.

In the past, watermarked content required editing original photos and videos to change watermarks. The process of editing photos and videos to add watermarks becomes tedious when changes are required or different content is separated into different categories.

Move photos and files to different server using php

It is possible to move the photos and files embedded in your content to a different location without editing your content. One scenario is moving the photos from your server to a photo server such as Flickr.

In the past, relocation of files required editing content to point towards the new location. The process of editing file locations becomes tedious when content is separated into different categories. Using a simple php script to serve all your embedded content simplifies the relocation of files later because the only change required is modifying location in the php file.

  • New Themes

Finally a new theme, this one uses three colours, gray, green and white. The shop is currently using the same theme. It also has a fall back flat colour for browsers that do not support gradients. I recommend checking this theme using a Mozilla based browser such as Firefox or a Webkit one such as Safari, Chrome, and Konquerer. (more…)

  • Request for Photo gallery software

I want to remove the gallery because it is no longer manageable. I have approximately 10,000 photos using Coppermine and wish to save them in a slide show or DVD-like format. The problems are as follows:
    1. I do not want to lose the comments for the photos
    2. Coppermine uses MYSQL database
    3. I want to reference the photos in the future.

    My preferred options would be:
    1. Convert the comments from the MYSQL database into EXIF
    2. Software that can read the EXIF information while displaying the photos
    3. Convert Coppermine’s MYSQL database into a flat file or SQLITE then run as offline application
    4. Convert Coppermine into DVD slide-show

    Some other information:
The Coppermine files are re-sized, I have copies of the originals, I want to use Coppermine as a reference in the future. Here is a scenario, I went for a Safari and took several photos for which I added comments in Coppermine. I want to use those comments in the future when I show someone my photos.

Please comment and let me know your suggestions

  • New May 2010 Themes

I have some free time so I want to update the website. I was so busy that I neglected the templates. However I have finished two new themes that will be installed here then be available at Ojamboshop.

The Themes are Simple Light, and Transparent Black. Both are fast loading because neither use javascript or images. The only image is the optional logo.

  • Fedora 11 Install Issues

When I decided to move to Linux full-time, I researched various distributions based on not just ease of use, but updates and drivers. I downloaded a live CD from http://www.knoppix.org/, several years prior and tested the software. I made sure that my favourite software would be available or at least have a substitute. I removed most proprietary software and started using open source or freeware if one was not available. I did not want to use any pirated software. The choice came down to between Debian and Fedora (more…)
