Zen Coding is a plugin for structured code such as HTML, and XML. Zen Coding can be used in any editor that allows JavaScript or Python plugins. Although Gedit in not officially supported, two plugins are available through third party developers.

Zen Coding works by expanding CSS-like selectors. The video begins by explaining Zen Coding. Ojambo.com reviewed Gedit as part of cross-platform lightweight programming editors.

The video installs Mike Crittenden’s Zen Coding Plugin for Gedit. An example of coding the old fashioned was is used. Zen Coding is then utilized to demonstrate rapid coding.
