Elgg is a free open source social networking engine that can be used to create a social networking site. The basic engine can also be extended with plugins such as chat.

Modifications are easy to implement for anyone with a minimal amount of PHP and HTML skills. In the video, I will show you how to install Elgg on a linux server.
