Apache Password Protect Video 0048

A Video for the Ojambo.com Apache Password Protect article.
Part One of One

In order for the Apache HTTP Web server password protection to work, the mod_authn_file module must be enabled.

The video begins by selecting a suitable programming editor. A file manager is used to view output. A terminal is opened to create the password file.

The tutorial is broken up into four parts. The first creates an “index.html” file inside the server document root folder. The second part creates a “.htaccess” file in the server document root folder.

The third part uses the terminal to create the “.htpasswd” file outside the server document root folder.
The final output is displayed in a browser. The server will determine if the credentials are correct before allow access.
